5 QB targets for the Jags
By: Jake Rajala
Trevor Lawrence may have been a first overall pick. However, he has frequently underperformed, and he’s been injury-prone. I believe it may be wise to have an improved QB2. Hence, I’m going to list five QBs for the Jags
Kirk Cousins
Kirk Cousins may be pricy, but he is arguably the best back-up QB in the league. He could combine his experience with Travis Hunter, and it would be beautiful. Cousins is still 36 years old. If Joe Flacco can play until 40, then Cousins sure as hell can.
Marcus Mariota
Marcus Mariota is one of the top QB2s in the league. He hasn’t quite tried to go into a team where he has a legit shot to start. I don’t believe that Jayden Daniels will have a sophomore slump and Mariota will take over.
Dillon Gabriel
Dillon Gabriel was dubbed the fifth best QB coming into the 2025 draft by NFL.com. I believe that Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Shedeur Sanders will be penciled into the QB chart. Gabriel still has a lot of potential. He could even replace Lawrence after a couple of seasons.
Zach Wilson
Zach Wilson has quality arm talent. There is no debate there. However, he needs to manage himself in the pocket and have more poise. Let’s not forget that he went 5-4 in 2022. Wilson is also 25 years old, so he can still really shine. We witnessed Sam Darnold and Geno Smith be late bloomers.
Trey Lance
Trey Lance has been a bust so far in his career. This doesn’t mean he lacks talent. He is one of the fastest QBs in the league! I’d love to see him have a Taysom Hill-like role in Jacksonville. Lance can not only run, but he has a wicked deep throw.
