Hines best destinations
By: Jake Rajala
Nyheim Hines is seeking redemption and a new team to play with. He has had knee issues, which caused him to miss so much time over the past couple of seasons. He believes that he is fully healthy and ready to contribute. With that said, I’m going to unfold a few landing spots for him.
Philadelphia Eagles
According to Victor Williams of Yahoo Sports, the Philadelphia Eagles are a prime landing spot for him. Nick Sirianni was the OC for the Colts when Hines was in Indy. Let it also be known that Barkley led the league in carries. There are moments where a refreshed Barkley could mow down the tired opponent in the fourth quarter.
San Francisco 49ers
Kyle Shanahan loves having many quality RBs on his roster. It should also be noted that Christian McCaffrey has had injury issues over the past few seasons. Hines is a fine one-cut RB, which fits the 49ers scheme well. He’s also a quality pass catcher, so he can operate with the same play calls that fit CMAC well. Matter of fact, Hines had more receiving yards than rushing yards in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and even 2022!
New Orleans Saints
The Saints let Jamaal Williams go, which opens up a spot for a RB2. Kendre Miller has failed at staying on the field. Devin Neal was taken in the sixth round. I don’t believe he’s quite NFL ready in his first season. I expect Cam Akers to be the back-up RB when the season starts. Even Akers has struggled to stay healthy at times, however. Hines could be a fine complement to Alvin Kamara.
Buffalo Bills
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”
Not only is running back James Cook’s status up in the air, but the Buffalo Bills could benefit from more pass catchers. Defenses already have their hands full with Josh Allen being a threat to run. With Hines, they have to worry about a RB constantly going out for passes. Screens would work quite well for Buffalo!
Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins already added Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller to their offense. Why not add another x-factor? Tua Tagovailoa is a short passing machine. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle already have defenses on their heels. Hines could thrive underneath. Mike McDaniel’s job is on the line in 2025. He needs to continue to be creative and add more weapons.
