Jared Goff vs Jordan Love: who has the edge?

Goff vs Love

By: Jake Rajala

Jared Goff has started to prove his worth as a former first overall pick. Interestingly, he’s playing his best football out of Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Jordan Love has shown that he was worth a first round pick in an age where Aaron Rodgers was playing superb football. With that said, I’m going to unfold which QB has the edge.

2024 stats:

Goff: 4,629 passing yards, 37 passing touchdowns, 12 ints, and a record of 15-2.

Love: 3,389 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 11 ints, and a record of 9-6. Clearly, he missed a couple of games.

Goff vs Packers

recent match-up:

32 for 41, 283 passing yards, 3 TDs, and 1 interception. They won 34-31.

Love vs Lions

recent match-up:

12 for 20, 206 passing yards, and 1 TD

The Packers and Lions are divisional foes. This game will be a blood-bath. The Lions had the number one scoring offense last season. They averaged 33.1 PPG, while the second team was Buffalo with 30.6. The Packers ranked eighth in PPG.

The Lions lost Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn this past season. There will be some growing pains and chemistry that’s off at times. The Packers have one of the best signal callers in Matt LaFleur.

The Lions defense needs to stay healthy. Aidan Hutchinson was the best player on the defense and quite possibly the entire team, but he only played in 5 games. He was leading the league in sacks before getting hurt.

The Packers don’t have a scary defense, especially in their secondary (after losing Jaire Alexander). I believe the Lions will force the Packers to compete in a high scoring game.

In the end, I believe that Goff has the edge. He was an MVP candidate last season. He has more quality weapons than Love and Goff blatantly has many more seasons in his belt.

The Lions and Packers will also be on Thanksgiving!
