Malik Willis potential trade destinations

Willis potential trade spots

By: Jake Rajala

Malik Willis still has the whole future in front of him. He has learned in a very quality scheme (in Green Bay) how to play QB. Well, his timer is up, and it’s time for him to move to a team where he can have a better chance of starting – whether it’s in 2025 or 2026. With that said, I’m going to list potential trade spots for him.

New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints are looking at starting a QB that had three season ending injuries in college or a QB that went 0-9 as a rookie. I do believe they have potential at QB. Nonetheless, they may not have a QB that’s ready for 2025.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers will most likely lose Aaron Rodgers to retirement after this upcoming season. Willis will certainly not take the keys of the offense away from A-Rod. However, Rodgers could groom Willis for a season and then Willis could be up to speed for 2026.

New York Jets

The Jets need an option B at QB. We’ve already seen Justin Fields get knicked up. So, we know he has a playing style that’s prone to injuries. We also know that he hasn’t proved his worth on the field, as he was benched last season. I also believe that Willis could even put some heat on Fields for the starting gig.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jags don’t exactly have stability at QB. Sure, T-Lawrence had a nice finish to last season. However, he still missed seven games. In 2023, he unleashed 14 interceptions with only 21 touchdowns. Willis could potentially take the Jags QB1 job if Lawrence is injured or struggling.

New England Patriots

Drake Maye was the worst Pro Bowl QB last season, to say the least. He only threw 15 TDs and had 10 ints. Furthermore, he had a record of 3-9. Ouch. Willis could push Maye for the starting gig. The Pats also don’t have the sexiest group of weapons. Willis would be able to make more plays with his legs than Maye.

Honorable Mention:

Kansas City Chiefs

I know the Chiefs aren’t a spot for Willis to start, so I’m breaking that rule. The Chiefs are arguably the best team in the NFL. So, the best team should have the best back-up QB. Gardner Minshew and Willis could compete for the QB2 spot. Plus, Andy Reid could come up with unique packages for a dual threat QB like Willis.
