The Browns could get the first overall pick in 2026

The Cleveland Browns do not have the sexiest roster. There is trouble on the horizon for the Browns this season. With that said, I’m going to unfold a few reasons they could even get the first overall pick in 2026!
- Division
The Browns play in a brutal division. The third worst team in the AFC North last season was the Cincinnati Bengals, who had a 9-8 record. The Bengals also recently went to the Super Bowl. Of course, the Baltimore Ravens won the division with a 12-5 record. Lamar Jackson proved to be one of the best QBs in the league. Finally, it’s worth touching on the Pittsburgh Steelers. They haven’t had a losing record since 2003!
- QB talent
Let’s be honest – the Browns don’t have a Top-20 QB. Joe Flacco is on his last legs. He had a 2-4 record last season. The Browns rookie QB tandem (Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders) has failed to separate from the pack. Everybody thought Shedeur would mop the floor against his competition, but he has been the fourth QB on the depth chart. Kenny Pickett has the most potential in my opinion. He had a winning record in 2022 and 2023. Yet, even he has a lousy 15 TDs to 14 ints in his career up to this point.
- Pass protection
Not only have the Browns failed to add a modest QB, but they are leaving their QB out to dry. The Browns ranked 31st in sacks allowed last season! Ouch. They added Teven Jenkins and Cornelius Lucas. Jenkins and Lucas are actually average starters. Jenkins had 75.4 PFF grade last season. Lucas registered a 74.1 PFF grade a season ago. Clearly, they still aren’t above average figures. There blatantly isn’t a pair of OL that can clean up.
