Best spots for Jon Gruden
By: Jake Rajala
Jon Gruden is one of the best football minds alive. Although he has made mistakes off the field. Nonetheless, he has been appearing as a guest at many football camps over the past few years. With that said, I believe there’s a real shot of him returning to being a head coach. Hence, I’m going to unfold potential landing spots for him.
Las Vegas Raiders
I’m not sure if I’ve seen Gruden not wear a Raiders shirt. The last team he coached for (Raiders) is in his heart. Not only does he have chemistry with the organization, but Pete Carroll is their coach, and he happens to be the oldest head coach in the league!
Carolina Panthers
The Panthers have a gifted QB in Bryce Young that Gruden can work with. Given his resume, he could likely garner a talented defensive coordinator. That would be good given the Panthers ranked 32nd in PPG allowed last season! I believe the Panthers are the worst team in the NFC South and are headed to the pit.
Indianapolis Colts
The best QB whisperer (Gruden) may be the last hope for Anthony Richardson. He has freak-ish arm talent and blazing speed. He just needs a coach who can utilize his ability without making too many mistakes. Of course, I still expect Gruden to bring in a quality veteran (such as Russell Wilson) to compete for QB1.
Tennessee Titans
The last place that Gruden was at was none other than Tennessee. He could have the golden boy, Cam Ward, at QB. Gruden is simply more effective than Brian Callahan, who led them to the first overall pick. There is no reason that Ward can’t lead his team to reach the playoffs in the soft AFC South. Gruden could take them further and make them a playoff contender.
New Orleans Saints
I really like Kellen Moore. There is a reason Nick Sirianni wanted Moore to stay and run it back with Philly. However, he’s in trouble. He doesn’t have a Top-20 QB. I believe the starting QB may take Moore down with him. Of course, Gruden visited the Saints last off-season.
