Best trade destinations for Tyler Shough
By: Jake Rajala
I know it may seem early, but a Tyler Shough trade can make some sense. After all, Spencer Rattler seems like the favorite to win the starting gig. So, I will unfold some potential trade destinations for Tyler Shough.
Cleveland Browns
I wouldn’t be opposed to say that a QB trade is an option. Perhaps Dillon Gabriel for Shough could work. They both have had roller coaster moments in the NFL. Shough has some similarities to Joe Flacco. They could run the same type of offense.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Yes, I know that the Bucs are in the same division as the Saints. However, it makes a lot of sense to see a trade. Kyle Trask has been on the bench for quite some time. He may benefit from a new change in scenery, while Shough could push Baker for the QB1 spot as time goes on.
New York Jets
I don’t love that Justin Fields is 13-40 in his career, and he was benched last season. I’d love to see Shough come in and compete against Fields. They both have strong arms and can make plays with their legs. Tyrod Taylor is the QB2, and he has some talent, but he’s 36 years old.
Indianapolis Colts
Anthony Richardson and Shough have freak arm strength and the ability to win with their legs. They are missing the right way to view the field and be calm in the pocket, however. The Colts need more talent at QB to bring out the right starting QB come Week 1.
Arizona Cardinals
It’s time for Kyler Murray to feel the heat. The Cardinals need to bring in another gifted QB. Murray has been average and quite injury prone over the past few seasons. The Cardinals are aching in the brutal NFC West because they don’t have consistent, quality production from their QB spot.
Honorable Mention:
Pittsburgh Steelers
Shough doesn’t have to start on a team right away. He could sit for a year in a system like Pittsburgh. After A-Rod retires, Shough should be more experienced and motivated. The Steelers could still draft a QB in round 1.
