Russell Wilson vs Jaxson Dart
By: Jake Rajala
The former Seahawks legend, Russell Wilson, and 2025 first round pick Jaxson Dart have both enjoyed fine off-seasons. Wilson threw an 80 yard moon pass last week. As for Dart, he unleashed a few touchdown passes in three games. This has made many GMEN fans hope for Dart to get the keys to the offense.
With that said, I’m going to briefly unveil which QB has the edge.
Dart has been humble and he’s taken the back-seat to Wilson. Per USA Today, Dart said, “I feel like whenever my number is called I’m gonna go out there, I’m gonna play my game and I’m gonna ball.”
Dart also said, “Russ has completely earned that role”.
Russ is coming off a modest season. He went 6-5, threw 16 TDs to 5 ints. He punched a ticket to the Pro Bowl. He had a modest PFF grade of 77.5. I believe he can step it up with Malik Nabers in his offense.
Dart isn’t a slouch. He has been the best rookie QB this offseason. Some may say he’s been a Top-10 QB this preseason! Shedeur Sanders was impressive Week 1, but he fell off a cliff. Dart has been consistent, which seperates him from other rookie QBs. Not only has he thrown a few TDs in limited time, but he hasn’t thrown an interception. To be fair, he has played against backup players in moments of his dominance.
I would like to see Dart get the QB1 role. Dart can carve up a defense in many ways and he isn’t going to make silly mistakes. He can be an OROY-type player. The more chemistry he has with Brian Daboll and Nabers, the sooner he can create a dynasty.
Dart has more upside at this point in his career. I believe Wilson is more of a game manager. The Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders just happen to be in the NFC East and they both had deep playoff runs last season. Of course, Philly won the big dance. Hence, the GMEN need to take the risk of starting a rookie because he has a plethora of potential.
