5 hardest games for the Eagles
By: Jake Rajala
The 2025 NFL season will showcase the Philadelphia Eagles as one of the two teams to kick things off. They won’t have an easy path to winning a second straight Super Bowl. With that simply said, I’m going to unfold five brutal foes for Philly in the 2025-2026 season.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs will have an unmatched chip on their shoulder after losing in the Super Bowl against Philly. With that said, Rashee Rice will be suspended for the first six games. The Chiefs will have to count on former first-round pick Xavier Worthy, who is one of the fastest NFL players.
Detroit Lions
The Lions, also known as the number one scoring team in the league last season, finished quite short of expectations last season. Jayden Daniels and his offense dropped 45 points on Detroit. The question is: can Aidan Hutchinson come back healthy as the player he was before getting injured in 2024?
Buffalo Bills
The reigning MVP, Josh Allen, needs to win this game if he wants to get the number one seed. The Bills have an elite DL (with Joey Bosa, Ed Oliver, and Gregory Rousseau), and the Eagles have an elite OL, so it should be a dandy upfront. The Eagles won 37-34 in overtime in their last showdown.
Denver Broncos
Bo Nix was the second best QB in the AFC West last season. The Broncos have one of the best defenses, as well. All they did was lead the league in sacks last season. Of course, Pat Surtain won DPOY, too. The Eagles squashed the Broncos in their last meeting in 2019 by a score of 30-13, but, Sean Payton nor Nix was there.
Green Bay Packers
The recent arrival of Micah Parsons makes the Packers a much more dangerous foe. Plus, they drafted Matthew Golden on offense, who should torch defenses often. Let’s not forget that Philly edged out the Packers in 2024-2025 wildcard showdown by a score of 22-10.
Even if the Eagles have a brutal schedule, they could still win their division. If a team like Detroit gets the first seed, the Eagles should rest well knowing that they have a running game and defense that can travel well.
