Dak Prescott outlook
By: Jake Rajala
Dak Prescott is one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the league. He has been a stat machine, but the issue is: he can’t stay healthy. He also hasn’t had many prolific weapons. He’s been left to feed Ceedee Lamb. Thankfully, the Boys added George Pickens to help Prescott.
A fascinating question clouds Prescott: what is his floor and ceiling?
I would have to say 2023 and 2021 were Prescott’s best seasons. They are quite similar, as well. In 2021, he threw 37 touchdowns, while he threw 36 touchdowns in 2023. He only lost five games in 2021 and he only lost 5 games in 2023. Furthermore, he threw 410 completions in 2021 and 2023! He unleashed 4,516 passing yards in 2023 and 4,449 yards in 2021.
So, we know Prescott has the ability to be elite. It still needs to be noted that he only played in eight games last season, 12 games in 2022, and five games in 2020.
If Prescott stays healthy, he can throw 5,000 passing yards. He threw 4,902 yards in 2019. With Pickens, he has a real shot at eclipsing 5k yards. I honestly believe that Prescott can throw around 42 touchdowns. The defenses in the NFC East have improved, so I won’t quite say he can throw 45 touchdowns.
I believe a floor for Prescott has to be 4,200 passing yards. He only notched around 3,600 yards as a rookie and 3,800k yards in his second season, but I believe he has come a long way since then. He’s averaged 4,622 passing yards in his past three seasons.
I’m thrilled to see Prescott silence his haters in the upcoming season. I believe there is a realistic chance that he wins Comeback Player of The Year this season.
