Will Juwan make the Pro Bowl?

Juwan Johnson has been one of the most targeted tight ends in the league, as he has 28 targets. He did have a crucial drop in Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals in the end zone. He arguably redeemed himself by catching an impressive TD in Week 2 against the San Francisco 49ers. Overall, he looks like the tight end who was awarded a contract extension worth $30 million over a few years.

He has 176 yards and the lone TD through three games.

Juwan is 29 years old, so it’s safe to say he’s a late bloomer. However, it’s fair to say many TEs play into their mid to late 30s.

Among TEs, Juwan has the second most targets and second most catches. He has the fifth most receiving yards among TEs. He needs to work on getting more involved in the red zone, which has been Rattler’s achilles heel, as well.

The Saints have played modest defenses over the past few weeks, too. If Juwan can shine against the 49ers, Cardinals, and Seahawks, he can most certainly play well against the likes of Atlanta and Carolina.

The last Saints TE to make the Pro Bowl was none other than Jimmy Graham. Saints fans are delighted to see another TE come along that can make one handed catches and even hurdle defenders. I foresee Juwan making the Pro Bowl.

Let’s not forget that Juwan is holding his ground, despite Chris Olave being the most targeted wideout in the league. Kellen Moore is a master at the no huddle offense. This will only help Juwan be a match-up nightmare, as foes will often have to leave a LB or small slot corner against Juwan.

I’m not ready to buy a Juwan jersey, but he has been a fine surprise over the past year. I know it’s early, but I believe he could go down as one of the best Saints TEs, especially if Rattler and Moore stick around.
