What is wrong with Bo Nix?
By: Jake Rajala
Bo Nix is quite the athletic freak. He has impressive arm strength and he can take off with the ball when he desires. With that said, Nix hasn’t had the start to the season that he hoped. He only has five TDs to three ints. It’s obvious that he overthrows a lot, which isn’t Sean Payton’s fault.
Nix only had 8 points in Week 1, but he bounced back in Week 2 with 21 pts. He went back down to 13.4 pts in Week 3. It’s been a roller coaster for him, clearly. He hasn’t exactly faced elite defenses either.
Nix may be a former first round pick in a Sean Payton offense, but he’s ranked 20th right now. You may want to close your ears when you hear this: PFF has him ranked as the worst QB right now.
I need to see him play well against the Philadelphia Eagles in a couple of weeks. That will tell me if Nix can be clutch and able to win against Super Bowl contenders. Especially, because there are two SB contenders in the AFC West (KC and LAC).
If Nix gets blown out by the Eagles and doesn’t get 20+ pts against the Jets and Giants, I would put him on the trade block. After all, the Jets are 28th and the GMEN are 24th in PPG allowed.
On the flip-side, Nix He was the seventh best QB last season. Let’s not forget he started slow last season, too. Nix could turn things around. We’ve witnessed QBs have sophomore slumps and still turn out to be elite QBs.
Most importantly, there needs to be a vision. Payton has a lot of trust in Nix. He’s raved about his potential this prior off-season.
Nix also has potent chemistry with Courtland Sutton, which is really important. Payton will also find ways to return Nix to being a Top-10 QB. If he can make Taysom Hill play like the best player on the field, he can help Nix outshine fellow AFC West QBs.
