3 biggest obstacles for the 49ers

Biggest obstacles for the 49ers

By: Jake Rajala

The San Francisco 49ers are looking pretty at 3-0. They are widely recognized as a Super Bowl contender and NFC West favorite right now. With that said, the question is: what is holding them back? Well, I’m going to lay out three obstacles for them right now.

  • Nick Bosa

Nick Bosa has seemed to be in the shadow of Micah Parsons and Trey Hendrickson, but he’s still a very gifted pass rusher. He had two sacks and two forced fumbles in three games. Sadly, he tore his ACL, and he’s done for the season.

I would like to see them make a reunion with Chase Young. Young has a mild injury, but he should be back soon.

  • George Kittle

George Kittle will be out until at least Week 6, as he was placed on IR. The loss of Kittle really hurts. It’s already painful that they do they not have Deebo Samuel or Brandon Aiyuk. Kittle was also a bully in the running game. Kittle and Kyle Juszczyk are quality run blockers on the edge, alongside Trent Williams. If they want to beat the Lions, Eagles, and even the Rams, they have to be physical.

  • Trent Williams

Trent Williams has been recognized as one of the best left tackles in the game. He’s certainly a future Hall of Famer. I’m a little worried that his PFF pass blocking grade is 72.2, which is 28th among tackles. He may have to hold his ground against Aidan Hutchinson and Micah Parsons, if they want to reach the big dance.

The 49ers have reached the Super Bowl recently, but they have failed to win it all. They will have to stay dominant with these injuries if they want to win their division. Let it be known that the three other NFC West teams are 2-1! The Seahawks are coming off a monster 44-13 win and seem to be right on the 49ers heels.
