Russell Wilson to NOLA?
By: Jake Rajala
The former Wisconsin Badger, Russell Wilson, is a borderline future Hall of Fame quarterback. He’s incredibly talented, and he has a championship mindset (even if he is quirky). Wilson was a stud in Seattle during their days of having the “Legion of Boom”. He won a Super Bowl in 2014. He didn’t quite sustain his talent from SEA.
In his first season as a Bronco, he went 4-11. Ouch.
He was a tad better in his second Broncos season, as he went 7-8. It’s still not quite respectable. He wanted to join a well-rounded roster where he could also start. He chose the Steelers. Last season, he went 6-5 with the Steelers and made the Pro Bowl, as well.
He wanted to join another team where he could start in 2025. He picked the GMEN. After a 0-3 start and a lot of anger from Giants fans, he is being pulled for 2025 first round pick Jaxson Dart. This raises the question: Will Russell Wilson be traded, and to whom?
The Saints seem like a popular fit for Wilson. Spencer Rattler has a plethora of arm talent. He’s even put the Saints in a prime position to win each of their first two games. A victory didn’t come to fruition. He’s still looking for his first career win.
Kellen Moore worked wonders with Jalen Hurts last season. Hurts and Wilson have similar skillsets. Wilson also has a beautiful deep throw, which would fit well for Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed, who are both incredible deep threats.
If Wilson starts, it doesn’t have to be the end of the road for Rattler. He can start in a couple of seasons. Jordan Love sat behind Aaron Rodgers for a couple of seasons.
Rattler does have command of the offense, and Wilson may not be able to move his skill players around as well as Rattler can. Rattler also has a knack of what his division foes like to do in specific situations.
The addition of Wilson doesn’t have to be the end of Rattler in 2025. The Saints can welcome Wilson as the QB2 and see how it grows from there.
