Dynasty: The Rise of Kendre Miller

Kendre Miller outlook

By: Jake Rajala

The New Orleans Saints drafted Kendre Miller in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He came out of TCU. He ran angry for 1,399 yards and 17 touchdowns in his junior season. He clearly felt like he put enough on tape to be an early NFL pick.

He was in Dennis Allen’s doghouse to start his career. He rarely played and he only had 156 yards as a rookie and 148 yds last season. Ouch.

In 2024, he already has near his rookie production, as he has 124 yds in four games. With that said, he is also coming off his best game of the season. He ran wild for 5.9 YPC and a TD.

Let it be known that his playmaking ability hasn’t gone unnoticed by other analysts. He tops NFL in elusive rating. It’s quite fascinating that he has a elusive rating of 155.8. The most prominent elusive rating of 2024 was Bucky Irving with 111.

Clearly, Miller is on a mission. He is only 23 years old, so he has a very bright future ahead of him. Alvin Kamara is too old to be the future of the Saints RB spot. He is already 30 years old!

The Saints OL can go side by side with Miller into the long road ahead. Taliese Fuaga is a second year right tackle, Kelvin Banks Jr. is a rookie left tackle, and Erik McCoy is arguably the best center in the league.

Miller reminds me a lot of Khiry Robinson, who is remembered well by die-hard Saints fans. They both are tackle breaking machines.

Even if Miller is the bell-cow RB at some point, I’d like to see a skat back on the roster. Adrian Peterson was the NFL’s best RB, but he wasn’t meant to be a pass-catching RB on 3rd downs.

Miller failed to eclipse 6 pts in his first three weeks. All of sudden, he popped out and had 12.5 pts. He had a season-high 11 carries, which was more than his previous season high carries (7). A strong running game from Miller (and Kamara) will open up the play-action game and help their young QB (Spencer Rattler), who is 0-10 as a starter.
