Is Cam Skattebo a fluke: dynasty?

Is Skattebo a fluke?

By: Jake Rajala

The Giants fourth round pick in 2025, Cam Skattebo, is a bowling ball with the ball in his hands. He reminds me a lot of Peyton Hillis, who also briefly played for the GMEN. With that said, a lot of people are asking: Is he a fluke? I don’t quite believe so.

Cam had 2.9 pts in Week 1, 13.9 pts in Week 2, 24.1 pts in Week 3, and then 13 pts last week. His lone brutal performance, which came in Week 1, resulted from having a mere two carries.

Cam is the 19th ranked RB thus far. I love that he is a rookie and that Jaxson Dart is a rookie, too. They can grow and push each other.

The GMEN don’t have a two-headed monster like the Lions have with Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery. They have average backs after Cam, like Devin Singletary and Tyron Tracy Jr.

Cam has also shown that he can belong in the passing game. He had six grabs in Week 3 for 61 yards! It’s hard enough to bring Cam down. It’s nearly impossible to tackle him if he gets a screen pass out in the open field.

The most impressive part is that Cam is dominating as a “rookie”. The one year wonder in Peyton Hillis merely recorded 343 yards as a rookie.

Cam is even playing behind a Giants OL that isn’t elite. They could really improve. PFSN ranked the GMEN’s OL as the 26th best OL in the league.

Let’s not forget about another issue that makes an impact on Cam. Malik Nabers is done for the season. That should certainly mean more carries are in store for the Giants RB1.

Cam is a dark horse to win Offensive Rookie of The Year in my opinion. He has the production when i comes to running with the ball and he’s been proving he can shine in the passing game.

Cam has a hell of an opportunity to improve his OROY odds next week. He gets to play the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football. Philly is Goliath, and they have quite the defense with Jalen Carter and Zack Baun. If Cam can shine and help his team upset the Eagles, it would be hard to deny the potential of Cam. Plus, everybody will be watching, as it’s a primetime game.

If Cam doesn’t win OROY, Jaxson Dart could honestly take home the gold. He has a 96 passer rating from last week’s victory over the LA Chargers.
