Week 8 waiver wire
By: Jake Rajala
Week 7 is in the books, after a pair of Monday Night Football games. It was a dandy, to say the least. At this time, it’s crucial to pay attention to the waiver wire. Hence, I’m going to lay out several waiver wire targets.
Joe Flacco
It would be blasphemous to not consider Joe Flacco as an waiver wire target. He’s better than the other QBs in waivers, such as Geno Smith or Spencer Rattler. Of course, Flacco unleashed 342 yards and three touchdowns against the Steelers last TNF. His chemistry with Ja’Marr Chase is in mid-season form.
Noah Fant
Noah Fant is coming off a 14.6 point game, which is impressive. With Flacco at QB, his ceiling is more dangerous than with Jake Browning, to say the least. Ja’Marr Chase managed to score 38 points, yet Fant still had a piece of the pie. Don’t be afraid of Chase getting an infnite amount of targets.
Tyrod Taylor
The veteran QB Tyrod Taylor has been up and down, which shouldn’t come as a surprise. The dual-threat QB notched 17.68 points in Week 3, but then he struggled in “half a game” in Week 7 and threw two ints. Hopefully, he can find a way to stay away from the ground and utilize his impressive deep throw.
Luke McCaffrey
Luke McCaffrey isn’t CMAC, but he can make plays with the ball in space. He had 14.6 points in Week 3, 10.10 points in Week 4, and 10.3 points in Week 6. With Deebo Samuel a little banged up, it wouldn’t be a surprise if gets back in sync and becomes a threat.
Cleveland Browns defense
Yeesh. 26 points. That’s how many points were scored by the Browns defense in Week 7. They have also scored 14 and 9 points before. With Myles Garrett, any dominant performance by the Browns defense is on the table. Let’s not forget that CLE will play with their hair on fire against Flacco and the old gunslinger in Aaron Rodgers.
Nick Folk
Nick Folk won’t give you 20 points, but he has scored at least six games in each game. He’s also recorded at least four games of 10 points. Jake Elliot has given me three games below six points, which is unfortunate. Folk is also on a struggling Jets offense, so they should be leaning on their kicker a tad more than most teams.
Kansas City Chiefs defense
The KC Chiefs defense is coming off a season-high performance of 13 points. They had 12 points in Week 3, 8 points in Week 4 and 8 points in Week 5. The Chiefs are led out by Chris Jones, who should have a massive chip on his shoulder in primetime games, which come often.
These profiles are all coming on strong and should help you reach the playoffs. I unveiled a wide variety of profiles (whether it was a kicker or numerous defenses). I surely will be making waiver claims for some of these players listed.
