5 flex players to buy and 5 flex players to sell in Week 9

Flex players to buy and sell in Week 9

By: Jake Rajala

It would be a shame to not focus on skill players, especially at this point in the season. It’s nearly halfway through the season. With that said, I’m going to lay out five flex players to buy and five flex players to sell.

Buy

Javonte Williams

The Dallas Cowboys RB Javonte Williams has been one of the biggest surprises at RB this season. He has two rushing TDs against an elite Broncos defense. This is his sixth game of at least 17 points. He’s able to perform at a high level, regardless of how Dak is playing. Furthermore, he is 25 years old, so he has a bright future ahead of him.

Emeka Egbuka

Let fantasy folks believe that there is something wrong with Emeka Egbuka after not scoring more than 10 points in the past three games. However, he had a season high 12 targets against Detroit in Week 7. He just couldn’t quite average enough yards per catch. I also still love him for making many, many plays earlier season. I also expect Mike Evans to only play for a couple more seasons at most. Emeka is simply the future of the Bucs WR spot.

Travis Kelce

I love Travis Kelce at TE. I believe it’s wise to have some older players to excel, especially at TE. It’s a position that’s easier to replace, rather than running back. Kelce is heating up with Patty Mahomes. Kelce had 19, 13, and 8.4 points over the past few contests. Kelce is taking advantage of KC not having an elite wideout. Kelce should be a future Hall of Famer.

Rome Odunze

Rome started off hot! He had four straight games of at least 15 points. He hit a slump in Week 6 by scoring 5 points and scoring another 5 points in Week 7. Well, he bounced back and scored 18.4 points in Week 8. I love the growth from Caleb Williams and that will only help his chemistry with Rome. Rome takes advantage of DJ Moore hogging most of the attention.

Cam Skattebo

The bowling ball at RB, Cam Skattebo is having fans deeply worried that he is bound to have surgery on Sunday night. His future is still promising. He had 10 points in the second quarter. He’s still had three games of at least 18 points. It’s vital to reflect on his 2025 season, which may have ended with him winning OROY. He will be back, and expectations should be sky-high.

Sell

Saquon Barkley

Tell someone to drink the Kool-Aid. Saquon Barkley isn’t back in my opinion. That was his first game above 20 points and it came against a Giants defense that ranked 25th against the run. I don’t expect him to average 10.71 YPC and have five targets in the same game, too. Barkley isn’t quite washed up yet, but I don’t believe he’s a Top-10 RB. Saquon isn’t involved in the passing game enough to overcome his pure running ability.

Breece Hall

Similar to Saquon, it’s wise to use Breece Hall’s best performance by selling him. Breece had his first game above 20 points in Week 8. The Bengals are also 27th against the run. Defenses will begin to prepare for Hall and force Fields to make plays to win. Defenses aren’t scared to load the box on Hall and force Justin Fields to beat them through the air.

Alvin Kamara

Alvin Kamara is a shell of his one self. Sure, he is bound to be on the Saints Ring of Honor and likely end up in Canton. Nonetheless, He’s having a career low season. He recorded 5.9 points in Week 7 and 6.5 points in Week 8. He doesn’t have any game above 20 points. It’s also going to be hard for AK to bounce back at 30 years old.

David Njoku

David is a freak athlete, but he’s not consistent. He failed to score more than 10 points in his first four contests. I also don’t really like the Browns QB situation, as the young Dillon Gabriel is starting. They chose Dillon over Flacco, which is mind-boggling. David has also only made one Pro Bowl in his career.

D’Andre Swift

Swift hasn’t hit a wall this season. His worst game is 9.5 points, which is acceptable. He had 25 and 20 points in Week 6 and Week 7. He notched 15 points against the Ravens this week. He also has four rushing TDs this season. Let’s not forget that he had 13 catches in the first four games.

It’s extremely necessary to lay out skill players that can propel one to reach the playoffs. I hope one can take info away that can help. Good luck in Week 9!
