Replacements for Skattebo

The GMEN suffered a crucial blow with the bulldozing RB Cam Skattebo breaking his ankle and being shut down for the season. He was playing like a Pro Bowler and a dark horse candidate for OROY. Well, the Giants need to replace him. The Giants RBs Tyron Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary are average ball-carriers at best. Well, I’m going to unfold several candidates to replace the juggernaut.
Alvin Kamara
The New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara is quite versatile and capable of impressing in space. Well, his efforts are sadly going to the worst team in the league. The Saints have been rumored to trade away the explosive WR Brandin Cooks and home run threat Rashid Shaheed. It wouldn’t be a surprise if they didn’t stop there and shipped away Kamara, who also happens to be 30 years, and on his last legs. AK has a PFF grade of 56.4. Clearly, it’s time for him to move elsewhere.
De’Von Achne
Similar to Kamara, De’Von Achne is a gifted RB on a horrid team, also known as the Dolphins. Achne is a fantasy football god, but he can’t carry his team (like Adrian Peterson or CMAC), too. De’Von has recorded 472 yards and 5 TDs on the season. He has even averaged 5.3 YPC. This comes after he showcased 1,499 total yards and 12 total touchdowns last season. He has a PFF grade of 71.9. If the Phins trade away Tua and Tyreek Hill leaves, I expect there’s a strong chance De’Von wants to exit the club, as well.
Breece Hall
The Jets RB Breece Hall silenced a lot of haters with a 30+ point fantasy performance. Hall and Justin Fields played with their hair on fire after failing to win a game up to this point. Hall had 448 rushing yards on the season thus far. He doesn’t have any TDs, however. With the Jets having a roller coaster situation at QB, Hall can’t afford to be a weak RB. Breece is also 24 years old, which make him popular in the dynasty side of football. PFF has given him a grade of 70.5 so far.
Aaron Jones
Aaron Jones is the second old soul at RB so far. Jones is coming off an injury, but he’s healthy now. He was a PPR machine in 2024. I believe his pass catching skills are being wasted, as J.J. McCarthy has struggled in all but one quarter this season. The Vikings QB2 Carson Wentz failed to get him involved, too. Jones is more versatile than Skattebo, at least. He should be able to help Jaxson Dart with screens and many short routes.
Tyler Allgeier
The former Top-10 NFL pick, Bijan Robinson, is the bell-cow in Atlanta. They don’t need a top-tier RB2. Tyler has only 8 carries in the last two games combined. Yikes. Tyler has 207 yards and four TDs on the season. Furthermore, Michael Penix has impressive weapons at WR to push the ball down the field frequently. Tyler is simply an odd man out, but he’s too talented to be an outcast.
AJ Dillon
The Saquon Barkley look-alike, AJ Dillon, is a load to bring down. He just needs more opportunities to dazzle. Dillon had 803 yards, 770 yards, and 613 yards in his last few seasons in Green Bay. For some reason, he only has had 60 rushing yards this season. He’s still 27 years old, too. He has a plethora of potential, but he just needs a new home. Dillon has a playing style that’s awfully similar to Skattebo. Just like Tyler, he’s a backup to a RB that gets 50 touches.
Kareem Hunt
Kareem Hunt is a short yardage machine for Andy Reid. He can also bully defensive backs in space. He’s not a home run threat, to be clear. He has 205 yards, averaging 3.9 YPC, and a few TDs this season. Hunt is also 30 years old (similar to Kamara and Jones), so he will likely play 2-3 more seasons at most for the Giants. He has a PFF grade of 63.5 this season.
Honorable Mention:
Brian Robinson Jr.
The backup to CMAC is none other than Brian Robinson Jr. He has 144 yards on the season. It’s honestly hard to eat with McCaffrey garnering 50 touches a game. He still is 26 years old and has a somewhat modest resume. He recorded 799 yards and 8 TDs with Washington last season.
I believe there’s a fine combination old, young, fast, strong, RBs on this list. It would be nice to throw CMAC or Derrick Henry, but it has to be realistic. Simply put, the GMEN should target a modest RB, as there is a lot of football left this season, so there’s no time to throw in the towel on their RB hole.
