Bold predictions for Saints vs Falcons
By: Jake Rajala
The New Orleans Saints are taking on their worst nemesis, the Atlanta Falcons. After beating their divisional foe, the Carolina Panthers, last week, they will seek to climb in their average division. With that said, I’m going to lay out five bold predictions for the NFC South showdown.
Cameron Jordan gets 2+ sacks
The future Hall of Famer, Cameron Jordan, has more sacks against Matt Ryan than any sack artist has against a quarterback in the league. Sure, he despises Matt Ryan. Well, the Falcons pass protection just hasn’t stood up to Cameron Jordan, who has 3.5 sacks on the season. Jordan had a pair of sacks in Week 1 against Arizona. He will prove he has some gas left in the tank.
Kyle Pitts has 2 TDs
I believe that the veteran QB Kirk Cousins could have a few passing TDs, and Kyle Pitts will have 2 of those three touchdowns. The Falcons won’t have Drake London, so they will lean heavily on Kyle Pitts. The Saints have struggled against big body pass catchers. Kool-Aid McKinstry and Alontae Taylor are studs, but they aren’t built to stop the likes of Pitts or Mike Evans out wide.
Taysom Hill has 100+ yards rushing
Taysom Hill may not be a RB, but he can excel with the ball in his hands. Hill has dominated the Falcons in the past. He has made magic happen in the 4-minute drill this season already. The Falcons are 28th in rushing YPG allowed this season, too. Alvin Kamara also can’t handle a heavy load for 17 games.
Bijan Robinson has less than 50 yards rushing
I believe the Falcons will practice passing the ball with the expectation that the Saints will load up to stop the run. I believe the bowling ball, Bijan Robinson, will be stuffed a lot this game. Rico Dowdle, who has been red hot this season, only had 53 yards on 18 carries a couple of weeks ago against the Saints.
Chris Olave has 150+ yards receiving
I’m sure everybody saw that Brandin Cooks was released. This will open up more opportunities for Chris Olave to get more involved. Let’s not forget Olave was already coming off a game where he had five catches for 104 yards and a touchdown. Obviously, Rashid Shaheed was sent to the Seattle Seahawks recently, too.
