Breaking down the Saints weapons

Saints weapons outlook

By: Jake Rajala

The New Orleans Saints aren’t the greatest show on turf (if that wasn’t already obvious). Nonetheless, they have some above average weapons. I don’t love that they traded Rashid Shaheed, but they still have Chris Olave, Taysom Hill, Juwan Johnson, and Alvin Kamara.

Olave is their most reliable weapon right now. It’s not a debate. Olave has 734 yards and four touchdowns on the season. Olave only has one game below 10 points in fantasy, and it was eight points. The former Ohio State legend is just 25 years old, which is older than his rookie QB, Tyler Shough. Olave has made it clear that he wants to be a Saint for life and that he will work on getting a new, hefty contract this upcoming season.

I would like to see Hill get more involved in the right way. I don’t love that they had him throw a pass recently. He hasn’t been running enough for defenses to load the box to stop him. He needs more direct runs with the ball. If he must get involved in the passing game. I would like to see him shine with screens from the RB or TE spot, too. There’s no secret that Hill is 35 years old and will most likely play 1-2 more seasons.

Alvin Kamara is on his last legs. He doesn’t have his usual explosion right now. Kamara needs more help, too. He’s getting stuffed behind the OL far too much. Week 6 was the last time that he had 5 or more targets in the passing game, as well. Kamara (legs) and Olave (back) are fighting through minor injuries right now.

Juwan Johnson has been all over the map. He was on fire with Spencer Rattler in the few weeks. Then he took a dip for a short while. Well, it’s safe to say that Tyler Shough has been leaning on him quite heavily. He has at least 10 fantasy points in his last five games. Juwan inked a contract last offseason and he’s proving he deserves it.
