Should the Chiefs sign OBJ?

Who should sign OBJ?

The Kansas City Chiefs didn’t have enough ammunition to beat the average Dallas Cowboys squad in Week 12. They lost by a score of 31-28. Let’s face it: there isn’t enough firepower on the Chiefs to climb out of their hole and earn a playoff spot. Travis Kelce has impressive chemistry with Patrick Mahomes. It somewhat falls flat after him.

Obviously, it’s too late for the Chiefs to reel in a WR via a trade. We also saw the Buffalo Bills ink Brandin Cooks. With that said, there are still options in free agency for the Chiefs to target. They probably won’t be able to convince former Offensive Player of the Year, Michael Thomas, to come off the couch to catch bullets from Mahomes. Well, there is someone by the name of Odell Beckham Jr, who may be a wise fit.

OBJ is coming off a six game suspension for using PEDs. I don’t agree with all of his decisions, but he could still offer a team more explosiveness. After all, he was a stud for the Los Angeles Rams in their latest Super Bowl showdown. We all remember him catching a touchdown in the contest. OBJ was just scratching the surface in the game. We would probably remember him for unleashing 100+ yards and numerous touchdowns, if he stayed healthy.

Clearly, OBJ isn’t going to garner a lot of money in free agency. He still could sign a one year deal for a few million on a team like the Chiefs. If he gets another Super Bowl ring, we may be talking about him landing in Canton with a gold jacket.

Andy Reid loves to get the ball in space to his WRs. This is where OBJ thrives. Screens and slants are perfect for OBJ. The Chiefs need to work on their play-action game, but Beckham Jr does excel when teams fake the run and throw it deep in single coverage.
