Is it wise to sell Derrick Henry in dynasty?

Should you sell Derrick Henry in dynasty?

Make no mistake: Derrick Henry should make it into Canton and go down as one of the best running backs of all time. He also just happens to have the best stiff arm of all time. With that said, it is 2025, and he isn’t quite the same running back that won Offensive Player of the Year.

He has a respectable nine touchdowns rushing. However, he’s on pace for 1,346 rushing yards. This would be his lowest tally in at least 16 games since 2018.

With that said, a wise question arises: Is it time to sell King Henry?

Henry started off by scoring below eight points in four out of his first five games. Well, he’s quite hot right now. He has registered 19.1 points in Week 8, 13.1 points in Week 9, 11.4 points in Week 10, 20.2 points in Week 11, and 22.8 points last week.

The injury to Lamar Jackson didn’t set Henry back. Lamar played the past four games. This didn’t seem to hold back Henry, as he averaged 19.8 carries over the past five games, while. In his first five games, he notched 12.8 carries. It’s clear: Feed Henry and Jackson’s situation doesn’t really affect him.

So, Henry is playing like he could win somebody’s league. Nonetheless, he is 31 years old and he turns 32 in early January. I could see him play two more seasons, but it’s going to be a challenge to sustain consistency with his size and the toll it will take on his body. Mark Ingran ran angrily for 1,018 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2019. After that season, he ran for 299 yards and two touchdowns in 2020. Henry is human and I believe he could dip in performance a bit more, which would make him not an elite RB anymore.

Henry isn’t the only once prominent RB that’s being told to take a backseat. Saquon Barkley is playing far worse than last season. Perhaps it was the Madden curse for Saquon. All jokes aside, Henry should realize that RBs can’t live forever and he should rest knowing that he will most likely go into football heaven, also known as the Hall of Fame, when he hangs up his cleats.

Personally, I would move Henry for a second and third round pick. I don’t believe a team would offer a first round pick for him. Of course, someone could offer a first round pick for Henry and a bench player.
