Best destinations for Danny Dimes
By: Jake Rajala
Daniel Jones was arguably the biggest surprise at the quarterback spot this season. Well, Danny Dimes will be a free agent this upcoming season. The question is: Where will he be playing in 2026? With that said, I’m going to lay out several potential destinations for Daniel Jones.
Indianapolis Colts
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”
It would be an understatement to say Jones is having his best season in his career as an Indianapolis Colt. He has an elite running back in Jonathan Taylor, who just happens to be the leading rusher in the league. Teams are forced to load the box, which helps the Colts passing attack. Michael Pittman and the 25 year old Alec Pierce could both be 1k yard WRs. The Colts OL is also doing its job, as they’re ranked 9th in sacks allowed.
Pittsburgh Steelers
The veteran QB Rodgers will very likely retire in 2026. I don’t believe the Steelers will make the playoffs, which will make the decision for A-Rod easy. The Steelers still have a defense led by future Hall of Fame T.J. Watt and Jalen Ramsey. On offense, they have DK Metcalf and the versatile RB Jaylen Warren. Jones could bring this team to the playoffs right away.
Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders minority owner Tom Brady would be the major reason they could get Jones. Brady is magic and hell bent on making a football team better. The Geno Smith experiment is over. Chip Kelly is already out. Jones could have Ashton Jeanty and Brock Bowers in his arsenal.
New Orleans Saints
It won’t be easy for the Saints to get a top FA QB in 2026. To be honest, they need to make the biggest offer for Jones if they want a chance. They could still be an enticing destination, as they have Chris Olave, Taysom Hill, and Juwan Johnson. The Saints OL is also young and filled with potential. They have two first round picks at their tackle spots in Kelvin Banks Jr. and Taliese Fuaga.
Minnesota Vikings
The decision to let Sam Darnold leave to Seattle and replace him with J.J. McCarthy looks atrocious so far. McCarthy has six passing touchdowns to 10 ints. He has a 57.9 passer rating. The Vikings rank 28th in PPG. It’s sad that McCarthy struggles so much with a Top-5 WR in Justin Jefferson in his unit. The Vikings need a quality QB if they want to compete in an NFC North division that could have three playoff teams this season.
Cleveland Browns
I’m far from sold on any QB the Browns currently have. Deshaun Watson has been thrown under the boss by the Browns owner. Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel have had excellent flashes. Sanders hasn’t thrown more than a touchdown in a game, and Gabriel hasn’t been consistent. The Browns need more weapons, however. Jerry Jeudy is the lone ranger.
New York Jets
I hated the idea of the Jets adding Justin Fields, after he was benched for Russell Wilson last season. He also has a 16-37 record in his career. I would say the Jets are one of the most QB needy teams that aren’t the most attractive destinations. The Jets are 28th in sacks allowed. Their OL is average at best.
Honorable Mention:
Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons are loaded with talent. Drake London, Bijan Robinson, and Kyle Pitts are superb weapons. The Falcons saw glimpses of glory from Michael Penix, but he hasn’t looked like a sure-fire Pro Bowl QB. He could still compete against a veteran not named Kirk Cousins in 2026. Danny Dimes may like the situation in Atlanta.
