Is Davis a Saints Hall of Famer?
By: Jake Rajala
Demario Davis is one of the best Saints free agent signings of all time. We all know Drew Brees was the best FA signing by the Saints ever, but Davis could very well be the second best FA signing by Who Dat Nation. Just as the Saints signed middle linebacker Jonathan Vilma from the New York Jets in free agency, Davis was a free agent at MLB that came from the Jets.
Vilma and Davis are the two best MLBs to play for the Saints in the 21st century. Vilma was inducted into the Saints Hall of Fame in 2017. Vilma wasn’t only a two time Pro Bowler for the Saints, but he was a key reason the Saints won the Super Bowl. With that said, the question ponders: Does Davis belong in the Saints Hall of Fame?
Absolutely.
DD made first team All-Pro in 2019, second team AP in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023! He also made the Pro Bowl in 2022 and 2023. The scary part is that Davis is still playing at a high level at age 36! He has a PFF grade of 80.7, which is seventh among LBs. Yes, you read that correctly.
The only thing missing on Davis’s belt is a Super Bowl ring. Sadly, I can’t imagine him winning a Lombardi trophy with Who Dat Nation within a couple of seasons.
Davis will go down swinging this season or the next. He most likely will not play at the age of 40. Calais Campbell is 39 years old and he’s still kicking it. He is also a behemoth and he doesn’t have to rely on speed as much as Davis needs to.
Danny Stutsman and Pete Werner are the future of the MLB spot. They have are sure-tacklers and excellent at pursuing ball-carriers.
Davis’s right hand man, Cameron Jordan is also 36 and I expect him to retire soon, too. He is also expected to be in the Saints Hall of Fame.
