Who is the future Saints QB?

The 2025 second round pick, Tyler Shough, is right now far beyond the quarterback he was in pre-season. He’s more in command of the offense, he’s taking the right shots down the field, and he’s making a lot of magic outside the pocket. After all, he did have a pair of rushing touchdowns against the Buccaneers last week.
With that said, is he the future Saints QB?
Right now, the answer has to be yes. He’s playing outstanding for a rookie. He has a 65.2% completion percentage, which leads all rookies. He is also the most accurate QB (as shown below).
He may be 2-3, but both of his victories came against NFC South squads. He will have a real shot at sweeping the Panthers this upcoming weekend.
So, let’s compare his start to the likes of 2024 NFL MVP Josh Allen. He arguably has a better start than him (as shown below).
Not only is Shough a rookie, so they have to be patient with him, but they have other glaring holes. Demario Davis and Cameron Jordan will most likely retire in 2026 or 2027. Alvin Kamara is also the PFF’s worst rated RB at 30 years old, so it makes sense for them to replace him soon, as well. Of course, Taysom Hill will most likely retire in this offseason or the next, as he is 35 years old.
I believe Shough has outperformed the 2024 fifth round Spencer Rattler, who still has a lot of arm talent. Shough has more career wins than Rattler, despite Shough only playing five games.
Shough has a little bit of Archie Manning in him. Shough is an underrated dual threat QB, just as Archie was. They both have had “wow” moments.
It may not be too late for Shough to win OROY. After all, he has only played a few games less than Jaxson Dart. He still has the same amount of wins as Dart. If he surpasses Dart in the win column, the football world has to be serious about his OROY chances.
