5 things we learned from the Patriots-Ravens contest

Patriots-Ravens reflection

By: Jake Rajala

The mighty New England Patriots travelled to Baltimore to take on the Baltimore Ravens. The Pats came out with a monster victory of 28-24. With that said, I’m going to lay out five things we learned from the AFC showdown.

The roller coaster of Derrick Henry

Derrick Henry fumbled early in the game, which has been a constant theme. Well, he redeemed himself, to say the least. He unleashed 128 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. He is the thunder, while Keaton Mitchell is the lightning.

Stefon Diggs

Stefon Diggs was one of the most underrated acquisitions last year. Diggs recorded 138 yards on nine grabs. He has 869 yards and a few TD catches on the season. He is the go to weapon for Drake Maye, who is one of the favorites to win MVP.

Drake Maye

We all heard the MVP chants at the end of the game. Maye had 380 passing yards and two touchdown passes. This means he has 3,947 passing yards, 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions thus far in the season. He is only 23 years old, which is the scary part.

Tyler Huntley

Tyler Huntley did an admirable job in filling in for Lamar Jackson. Huntley had a 93.8 passer rating from the contest. He didn’t have any touchdowns, but he still spread it around nicely. Huntley filled in for Lamar Jackson earlier in the season against the Bears and he notched a 77.3 completion percentage, 186 yards, and a touchdown.

Tight end action

Hunter Henry had six nice catches and a touchdown reception. Austin Hooper even got involved and had 2 catches for 34 yards. Mark Andrews didn’t get more than two catches, but he had an interesting forward pass in the game.

The Ravens desperately needed to win this game, but that didn’t come to fruition. Meanwhile, the Pats are striding to get the AFC East title and potentially the first seed. If they have a rematch down the road, I hope Lamar Jackson can stay healthy.
