5 things we learned from the Colts-49ers contest

Colts-49ers reflection

By: Jake Rajala

The San Francisco 49ers marched into Indianapolis to take on the Colts. The 49ers dismantled the Colts, to say the least. They won by a score of 48-27. With that said, I’m going to lay out five things we learned from the Colts-49ers contest.

Christian McCaffrey isn’t human

CMAC recorded 117 rushing yards and averaged 5.6 yards a carry. He flexed his versatility in the game by notching a pair of touchdown receptions. He now has seven TD grabs on the season. He turned back the clock to his OPOY days.

Brock Purdy has a career day

On the brightest day of the week, Brock Purdy balled out. He unleashed five touchdown passes. He finished with a rating of 126.8, which is quite impressive. His prior season high TD throws in a game was three, which came against the Titans and also the Arizona Cardinals.

The roller coaster of Philip Rivers

We all got to see the two faces of Philip Rivers. He threw a couple of touchdown throws and had a completion percentage of 65.7. He had a rating of 97.0. Well, let’s address the downside of Rivers, as he threw a costly pick six. At the end of the day, he still went out swinging.

Alec Pierce

As a FF owner of Alec Pierce, I was delighted to see him perform well. He reeled in 24.6 fantasy points. He had 4 grabs for 86 yards. The best part is that he had two TD catches. He is proving to be a sure-handed, reliable deep threat in the Colts offense. He has a PFF grade of 79.7, which is solid.

The demise of Jonathan Taylor

As shown on the big screen yesterday, J-Taylor started the season off red hot. He was the best RB to kick off the season. Well, he has struggled to average over 4 YPC as of late. In the MNF game, he had 16 carries for 46 yards. At least he had a touchdown run.

The Colts are falling apart at the wrong time. They need to be more creative on offense to help their 44 year old QB and struggling RB. At the end of the day, I’d like to see a strong comeback story by Rivers moving forward.
