Pro Bowl snubs on the Saints

Latest Pro Bowl snubs on the Saints

For the second straight season, the Saints didn’t have any Pro Bowlers. I believe this is blasphemy. As reported by ESPN, Rashid Shaheed made the Pro Bowl as a return specialist for the Seattle Seahawks. Of course, he got traded by the Saints to the Hawks around the trade deadline. So, do the Saints deserve to not have any Pro Bowlers?

Juwan Johnson was once Top-10 in MVP votes at the TE spot. He started off hot, but he slowed down for a bit, and then came back strong again. I can’t blame voters, as he cooled down at the worst time possible. Right now, he’s recorded 733 receiving yards, which is fifth in yards at the TE spot.

I would say that Chris Olave deserves to be an alternate. He’s improved in each season thus far. He is only 25, which is a year younger than Tyler Shough. He has 1,043 yards and eight touchdowns thus far. He is seventh in receptions and eighth in receiving yards.

Last, but not least. Demario Davis really deserves to be in the Pro Bowl. He has 131 combined tackles and he’s bound to break his prior season-high number of tackles, which is 136 tackles. He also has a couple of forced fumbles. I expect Davis (and Cameron Jordan) to retire after this season, as they are both 36 years old.

Kelvin Banks has put together an admirable rookie season. I believe he can be a popular Pro Bowl vote after this season. He only has a PFF grade of 72.5. He has a fine OL pal in Taliese Fuaga, who is a quality profile at the RT spot, too.

At the end of the day, the Saints need to win more games, if they want their best players to notch more Pro Bowls votes. They have a fine combination of youth and experience on their roster.
