Is Bo Nix an elite QB?

Make no mistake: The (12-3) Denver Broncos are a well-oiled machine. They are led by none other than Bo Nix. The former Oregon Duck has proven his worth as a first round pick. He has thrown 24 touchdowns and 3,608 yards. I’d like to see him with fewer interceptions, however. Of course, he has 10 picks. Ouch.

With that said, a pivotal question arises: Is Bo Nix an elite QB?

I really don’t believe he is quite yet. He is 25th in rating. He isn’t anywhere near John Elway quite yet. On the bright side, he is sixth in passing yards right now. He is also 10th in passing touchdowns. I would like to see a better TD-int ratio. He has a PFF grade of 73.7. That’s not overly impressive.

He does remind me a bit of Brett Favre. They can make a lot of mistakes, but they have an “it” factor. They can make the plays to win the game in vital situations.

I also don’t love that Nix struggled against the Jaxsonville Jaguars. Josh Allen won the MVP last season for defeating the likes of Kansas City and other prominent teams. If Nix can’t win out, then he won’t have any chance at an MVP award, regardless of winning their division.

So, what does Nix need to do in order to be seen as an “elite” QB? Well, I’d love to see him win MVP or the Lombardi Trophy at least. He needs to do more than bring his team to the playoffs a few times. Andy Dalton brought his team often to the playoffs, but nobody is saying Dalton was an elite QB.
