Dynasty: The rise of Chris Olave

Chris Olave’s reflection

By: Jake Rajala

Chris Olave has been a man on a mission this season. After recording 1,123 receiving yards, 87 catches, and five touchdowns in his last full season (which was his second year), he unleashed 1,163 yards, 100 catches, and nine touchdowns this season. The scary part is that there is still a game left, which comes against a below-average Atlanta Falcons team.

Olave once pondered retirement, due to a history of concussions. He was thinking deeply about his life after football. Well, he made a brave choice to return to the NFL. I’m sure Tyler Shough, Kellen Moore, and the rest of Who Dat Nation is thankful for him returning.

Olave has been a fantasy machine this season. He only has two games below 10 points. Furthermore, he has notched five games of at least 20 points!

The former Ohio State Buckeye has tremendous upside due to his situation. He has a talented rookie QB, and a wise first year head coach! It’s a magical and young trio. The Saints also don’t have Rashid Shaheed or a go to WR2, which is a key reason why he was fourth in the league in targets. Alvin Kamara is also not the same figure who demanded an infinite amount of targets. Juwan Johnson appears to be the second biggest weapon for Shough right now.

I wouldn’t ship Olave away for a first round pick, or even a first and second round pick. He is still finding ways to improve, as noted. I would flip him for two first round picks, nonetheless. I believe it’s also wise to add Tyler Shough, as they both are fine-tuning their craft together.
