Will Todd Bowles be replaced soon?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have lost their “why” after Tom Brady and Bruce Arians left. The Bucs haven’t made a deep playoff run since, despite winning the division in 2024, 2023, 2002, and 2021. The Bucs went 9-8 and 8-9 in 2023 and 2022. The most important point is: How have they done lately? Well, the Bucs went 8-9 and missed the playoffs this season.
I don’t love the direction of the Bucs. Todd Bowles, who is a “defensive mind”, has a defense ranked 20th in PPG allowed. His defense is also ranked 19th in sacks. They are far from the defense that made life miserable for Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl.
In a world, where highly successful head coaches were relieved over the past couple of weeks, Bowles was not one of them. So, should Bowles be dismissed? Well, I really believe so. I believe they need a new spark. After all, the Bucs were arguably so successful last season, due to Liam Coen. He showed his brains and guts with the Jags this season, as they reached the playoffs and he had an offense that was seventh in PPG.
Bowles has a career record of 61-74. Hence, he isn’t quite proven to be a reliable, wise figure. He only had one winning season in the Big Apple and then he only had one season with 10 or more wins in Tampa Bay.
It’s unusual to see so many talented HCs on the market. I’d pounce on one as soon as I can. They have a chance to swing big for Mike Tomlin, or perhaps reunite with Jon Gruden. Baker Mayfield needs more help from a coach. We know he has a lot of firepower with Mike Evans, Emeka Egbuka, and Chris Godwin. That’s not the issue.
The Saints, Falcons, and Panthers all have offensive gurus in their corner. After I expect the Bucs to miss the playoffs for the second straight season, I believe they will follow that trend.
