Outlook on Jesse Minter in Baltimore
By: Jake Rajala
The Baltimore Ravens strangely fired John Harbaugh, who has led them to a Super Bowl victory. Well, they replaced him with Jesse Minter today. The question is: who the heck if Jesse Witner?
Well, Minter is only 42 years old and he doesn’t have any HC experience. Let it be known that has experience with the Ravens, however. He was a defensive assistant and then promoted to their defensive backs coach. He had a short stint with the Vanderbilt as their defensive coordinator in 2022. Finally, he burst onto the scene as the DC for Michigan.
Minter was hired by Jim Harbaugh as the Chargers DC last season. The Chargers ranked eighth in PPG allowed and fifth in YPG allowed. Furthermore, they ranked 10th in sacks, so there’s room for improvement there.
As usual, he has been promoted quite quickly and he earned an HC gig with the Ravens. He has quite a group on defense to utilize. Kyle Hamilton is the leader of the group.
The only thing working against Jesse is that he hasn’t been around the league for a somewhat long period of time. This will make it challenging for him to bring over connections to his team.
I still believe it was a mistake to go from John to Jesse. They should have made changes to their offense without firing John. They are overreacting to one play where the kicker missed a game tying field goal. John is the scapegoat.
The main issue is winning playoff games with Lamar. John has built a team that can reach the playoffs year in and year out. The Bengals are keeping Zac Taylor and he has been on a roller coaster. Yet, his manager believes in him.
