The outlook of Brandon Staley

The New Orleans Saints have a brilliant, creative head coach in Kellen Moore. It’s less talked about how impressive Brandon Staley is and the job he has done with the Saints defense. In his first season, his D has ranked ninth in YPG allowed and 10th in sacks. There is still room to improve, as they ranked 14th in PPG allowed.
Let it be known that Staley has done a heck of a job with a defense that has a very young secondary. They lean on Kool-Aid McKinstry, who is 23 years old. Staley has brought life back to Cameron Jordan and Chase Young, too. Young had a career high 10 sacks and it came in 12 games! Jordan also had 10.5 sacks, after having six sacks in the prior two seasons combined. He did a hell of a job as a DC in his first season with the Chargers. His defense was first in PPG allowed and first in YPG allowed!
With that said, a pivotal question arises: Should Staley be a head coach again?
I believe he’s on the verge of earning another opportunity to be a HC again. I’d like to see how his defense performs without Jordan and Demario Davis, who will both likely retire this off-season or the next. Furthermore, I’m intrigued to see how they do in the playoffs, if they go that far in 2026 or 2027.
Staley doesn’t only have HC experience, as he also has done a modest job at being an HC. He went 24-24 as an HC. He went 9-8 and 10-7 in his first two seasons.
It’s easier to find a offensive mastermind than a genius mind on defense in my opinion. So, the Saints need to capitalize off him staying in New Orleans right now. Eventually, I expect him to return to the HC ranks. If Aaron Glenn can be a HC in this league, than Staley sure as hell deserves to get another opportunity.
