Offseason goals for the Saints
By: Jake Rajala
The New Orleans Saints went 6-11 in 2025-2026, but there is plenty to be happy about. Their rookie quarterback went 5-4, which was a better record than any other rookie QB. With that said, they still have many holes with Shough. Hence, I’m going to unfold five offseason goals for the Saints.
5. Draft a RB on Day 1 or Day 2
Let’s be brutally honest: Alvin Kamara is washed up. PFF ranked him as the worst RB in the league. He doesn’t have the same juice as before & he isn’t evading defenders in space. Kellen Moore really depends on the play-action game. They need a potent running game. It was impressive to see Tyler do well on third and long last season, however.
4. Draft a MLB
I love Demario Davis, but he is 37 years old. He will likely retire in the upcoming offseason, or next offseason. Pete Werner is modest, but they need a bully at MLB. They won a Super Bowl with Jonathan Vilma running the defense.
3. Sign a veteran WR
The Saints strangely traded Rashid Shaheed to the Seattle Seahawks. This left a void at WR. Chris Olave is second team All-Pro this season. I’d like to see them bring in a slot WR, such as Cooper Kupp or Deebo Samuel. Samuel could do things that Taysom Hill has done for the offense.
2. Trade Spencer Rattler
I believe the Saints could get a mid-round draft pick for Spencer Rattler. He has off the charts arm talent. He struggled to finish out games, but he was still learning in the beginning of the season. Rattler is younger than Shough!
1. Trade back
The Saints don’t have a gaping hole on their squad. They do have a few veterans that will likely retire soon, such as Cameron Jordan, Davis, Kamara, and Hill. I’d like to see the Saints trade out of the Top-10 and into the middle of the first round.
