7 best landing spots for Khalil Mack

Best landing spots for Khalil Mack

By: Jake Rajala

Make no mistake: Khalil Mack is a first ballot Hall of Famer. Well, he still appears to be playing for a Super Bowl before he retires. He is a free agent this season. There is a chance that he returns to the Los Angeles Chargers, but I’m going to unfold several different teams that could lure him in. With that said, I’m going to unfold the several best landing spots for him.

Las Vegas Raiders

“Tell the world, I’m coming home”.

I’d love to see Mack and Maxx Crosby hunt QBs side by side. The Raiders need more talent, as they sit in a division with two teams that made the playoffs. The other team that didn’t make the playoffs has Patrick Mahomes. The Raiders were also 19th in sacks, so there’s room to grow.

San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers were 32nd in sacks. Yes, you read that correctly. Sure, Nick Bosa suffered a torn ACL. Well, that’s somewhat of an excuse. It won’t be easy for the 49ers to return to dominance with Bosa coming off the injury and “Robert Saleh leaving town”. The 49ers also were demolished against the Seahawks in the playoffs. It’s time to load up on defense for the 49ers.

New England Patriots

The Pats are a flat-out Super Bowl contender, and they could use more pass-rushing talent. They ranked 15th in sacks. They arguably got lucky that Bo Nix was out of the AFC Championship. They didn’t make life miserable enough for Jarrett Stidham. Mike Vrabel is a defensive guy. Plus, he was a former edge player for the Pats. He needs to get guys who play like him.

Green Bay Packers

The Packers already have Micah Parsons, who should be an All-Pro if he stays healthy. They also have Rashan Gary. I’d still like to see them bring in more talent on defense. Caleb Williams and the Bears proved to be too much for them. The Detroit Lions are also a very talented team in their division. The Packers were also 25th in sacks. Ouch.

Los Angeles Rams

The LA Rams are another team that could win the Super Bowl soon and has a need to improve on the edge on defense. Aaron Donald won’t be coming out of retirement. They need to find pass rushers that are ready “right now”. They can put up fireworks on offense, but they need to slow down opposing QBs in a shootout.

Cincinnati Bengals

There is a chance that Cincy loses Trey Hendrickson to a new team in free agency. Even if they don’t, Hendrickson needs a partner on the other edge. Cincy was 22nd in sacks last season, which wasn’t admirable. A new pass rusher could make Joe Burrow’s life easier, too. Perhaps he will be having more fun then, too.

New Orleans Saints

If Cameron Jordan leaves, they need a replacement. Insert Mack. Mack has familiarity with Brandon Staley, as he was the Chargers HC and defensive mastermind with Mack on the roster. The Saints could absolutely make the playoffs with Tyler Shoughn next season. I’d say that Mack will likely play 1-2 more seasons at most.

Honorable Mention:

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are hard to understand. They have an offense capable of dropping 40+ points on anyone. The problem is that they can’t slow anyone down. Jadeveon Clowney had 8.5 sacks, which is respectable. However, I’d love to see bring in even more help at DE. Quinnen Williams, Kenny Clark, and Clowney are a stout front. With Mack on the DL, it would be quite scary for Philly and the rest of the NFC East.
