Best free agent destinations for Mike Evans
By: Jake Rajala
Mike Evans is a lock to make the Hall of Fame. 2025 was the only season where he didn’t record 1k receiving yards. He has made six Pro Bowls. With that said, he is a free agent, so I’m going to unfold several destinations for him.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Evans could be in the Bucs ring of honor. He has chemistry with Baker Mayfield. Evans is still the WR1 in Tampa, while Chris Godwin and Emeka Egbuka fight for the rest of the targets. The Bucs should be the division favorites, too. Baker is arguably the best NFC South QB.
San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers are aching for WR help. Brandon Aiyuk is on his way out. It’s hard to tell if Ricky Pearsall is a Top-2 WR, as he has struggled to stay healthy. It’s a WR’s dream to play under Kyle Shanahan. Julio Jones, Deebo Samuel, and Aiyuk have been second-team or first-team All-Pro. Evans has a chance to win a Super Bowl with the 49ers.
Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders will likely have Fernando Mendoza at QB. They have firepower on offense with Brock Bowers and Ashton Jeanty. They are just missing some help at WR. Let’s not forget that they are bound to get Klint Kubiak, who is one of the most creative signal-callers in the league.
Pittsburgh Steelers
DK Metcalf and Evans would be the scariest WR tandem in the league. They are both physical freaks. Aaron Rodgers, who will most likely return in 2026, would have his best group of WRs ever. Darnell Washington is also a giant, as he’s 6’5, 315 pounds. Evans won a Super Bowl with the old Tom Brady. Perhaps it’s time for him to win a Super Bowl with another 40+ year old QB in Rodgers.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints know how prolific Evans is as they play against him twice a season. The Saints have second team All-Pro Chris Olave, but they are missing a prolific WR2. They questionably shipped away Rashid Shaheed to the Seattle Seahawks. Olave is a deep threat, but Evans can be the red zone threat.
Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson is one of the most gifted QBs to ever play the game, but he needs more help at WR. They have Derrick Henry at RB, but he can’t catch 100 passes. Zay Flowers had 1k+ receiving yards, but they need another toy for Lamar. DeAndre Hopkins isn’t a threat anymore. Mark Andrews, who is a TE, is arguably the best receiving weapon right now.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs have many B quality WRs, but they need an elite WR. Patrick Mahomes showed that he needed some help this season. Travis Kelce could retire this offseason, too. Evans has a real shot at winning another Super Bowl with Mahomes as his QB. Of course, Andy Reid is also a brilliant HC.
Honorable Mention:
Los Angeles Rams
When Brady and the Bucs won a Super Bowl, they had three dominant WRs (Evans, Chris Godwin, and Antonio Brown). Perhaps the Rams want to add another electric WR (to join Puka Nacua and Davante Adams) and try to go guns blazing with Matthew Stafford, who will retire soon.
