Best Njoku replacement choices
By: Jake Rajala
It’s been well-reported: The Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku appears to be on his way out of Cleveland. He has recently written a “goodbye letter” to the team that drafted him. He made one Pro Bowl with the Browns, which came in 2023. With that said, I’m going to lay out some replacement options for the Browns.
Dallas Goedert
The Philadelphia Eagles tight end, Dallas Goedert, isn’t overly old like Travis Kelce or Zach Ertz. He is quite effective at the same time. He recorded 11 touchdown grabs last season. That was number one in the league. He had three straight games with a touchdown to end the season. I believe the Browns are more desperate for him, as the Eagles already have A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith for weapons.
Kyle Pitts
It won’t be easy for the Browns to lure Kyle Pitts in, but they have a lot of cap space. This means they can try to make the biggest offer for Kyle Pitts. Pitts is arguably the best TE on the market. He had 88 catches and 928 receiving yards (which was second). It didn’t matter who his QB was, as he balled out every time he touched the field.
Taysom Hill
Taysom Hill is an effective blocker. This shouldn’t come as a surprise as he can squat 600+ pounds. He can also run a 4.4 40 yard dash. Of course, he can rotate in at QB and make magic happen. Well, he may be at his best at TE. After all, he is 35 years old and may be too old to run the ball. Hill had 291 receiving yards in 2023.
Darren Waller
The Miami Dolphins TE Darren Waller is a baller. Sure, I may be bias because he’s on my fantasy team. Nonetheless, he was a TD machine with the Dolphins. He had six touchdowns in nine games. If he played a full season, he may have had double digit touchdowns. The only issue with Waller is thatt he’s 33 years old, so he may only play a couple of more seasons (at most).
Evan Engram
Evan Engram could be a cap casualty for the Denver Broncos. This would make him an ideal option for the Browns. He had 50 catches for 461 yards last season. In 2023, he recorded 114 catches. I believe there is still a matchup nightmare and reliable third down option.
