5 offseason goals for the Minnesota Vikings

Serious offseason goals for the Vikings

By: Jake Rajala

The Minnesota Vikings have some serious work to do. They somehow came out of last season with a 9-8 record. This means they can be an elite team with a few positive changes. So, I’m going to make some offseason goals for them.

5. Sign a WR

Justin Jefferson is a stud, but he still needs a partner in crime. Even Ja’Marr Chase has a sidekick (by the name of Tee Higgins). The Vikings have Jordan Addison, but he’s not a high-end WR2. I’d love to see them reel in a stud WR, such as Rashid Shaheed or Jauan Jennings.

4. Bring in another pass rusher

The Vikings are in luck. There are many talented edge rushers in this FA pool. It would be intriguing to see the Vikings bring in Cameron Jordan. After all, his father (Steve) was a stud for the Vikings back in the day. Von Miller is also another option. Trey Hendrickson is the best pass rusher and arguably (free agent), so it won’t be easy for any team to lure him in.

3. Draft a replacement for Harrison Smith

Harrison Smith is a gifted athlete and versatile chess piece on the Vikings defense. Nonetheless, he is 37 years old. If he doesn’t retire in this offseason, he most certainly will in the next offseason. It would be wise to draft a safety on Day 2.

2. Don’t trade Justin Jefferson

Don’t underestimate the power of an elite WR. We witnessed the Seattle Seahawks, who had Jaxon Smith-Nijgba, win a Super Bowl. Of course, he was the Offensive Player of the Year last season. Jefferson is the Vikings best overall player. He could be a future Hall of Famer. The Vikings need to keep him.

1. Get an above average QB!

J.J. McCarthy could be a quality QB one day. I just don’t imagine that day will come soon. I’d love to see them draft a QB in round one. If they can’t find their guy on Day 1, I’d love to see them trade for a QB, such as Mac Jones or even Kirk Cousins.
