Dream goals for the Saints this offseason
By: Jake Rajala
The NFL offseason is here. We are waiting for the NFL combine, free agency, and the draft! With that said, I’m going to talk about the “dream goals” for one team: the New Orleans Saints.
5. Draft Jordyn Tyson
The Saints need a WR2 across from Chris Olave, who was second team All-Pro this season. Jordyn Tyson can be the WR2 (at least). Tyson unleashed 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns in 12 games in 2024. Last season, he recorded 711 yards and eight touchdowns in nine games. He is 6’2, and he’s expected to run around a 4.5 40 yard dash. He has been compared to Stefon Diggs and even Olave!
4. Bring back Rashid Shaheed
Rashid went to get his ring, so he should be somewhat satisfied. Well, it’s time for “the free agent” to come home. He has expressed interest in returning to the Saints. He didn’t get to play a lot with the advanced Tyler Shough, who went 5-4 with the Saints. Of course, Shaheed is an all-pro return specialist, who is capable of taking it the distance when someone kicks it his way.
3. Bring back the two veterans on defense
It won’t be easy, but I’d love to see Cameron Jordan and Demario Davis both return. They both want to pursue a Super Bowl trophy at their stage in their career. I get that. So, the Saints will have to make a couple of other transactions to convince Jordan and Davis that they have the roster to go and win a Lombardi trophy.
2. Sign Breece Hall or Kenneth Walker
Let’s face it: Alvin Kamara isn’t close to his old self. He was ranked as the worst RB in the league by PFF. The Saints need to help out Tyler Shough and Olave more by having a prominent RB. Thankfully, Kenneth Walker and Breece Hall are both free agents. The Saints are known for inside zone runs, which is what Hall has been accustomed to. Of course, Kenneth Walker was the Super Bowl MVP.
1. Bring back Taysom Hill
Taysom Hill was emotional following his last home game this season. I’d still love to see the 35 year old come back for one last ride. He is still a freak athlete. He can squat over 600 pounds and run a 4.4 40 yard dash. He can shine in 3rd and 4th in short situations.
