5 underrated FA WRs right now
By: Jake Rajala
NFL free agency is around the corner. One of the positions that intrigues me the most has to be the wide receiver spot. With that said, I’m going to touch on the WRs. Furthermore, I’m going to talk about some “underrated” FAs.
DeAndre Hopkins
D-Hop has some gas left in the tank. He wanted to join the Baltimore Ravens, as he had Super Bowl dreams with them. Clearly, they aren’t on the verge of competing in the Super Bowl. Hopkins isn’t going to torch a defense right now, but he is sure handed and can play slot or out wide at WR.
Jahan Dotson
Jahan Dotson recorded 523 yards and 518 yards in his first two seasons. He has been half as impressive over the past two seasons (as he notched 216 yards and 262 yards over the past two seasons. I’d like to see him join a heavy passing attack as a WR3. He was Philly last season, which isn’t a high-powered passing game.
Noah Brown
Noah Brown isn’t a 1k yard WR, but he is a 500 yd wideout. He recorded 555 yards in 2022 and 567 yards in 2023, and then 453 yards in 2024. He fell off a cliff last season, as he notched 83 yards and five catches. He’s still versatile and consistent. I believe he could be a modest WR3 for a team like Kansas City.
Michael Thomas
Michael Thomas was once the best WR in the league. He won Offensive Player of the Year. He could run any route and take any hits that went his way. He would win 50/50 balls. MT is 32 years old. He will likely not come out of hiding, but he should still have some gas left in the tank.
OBJ
It’s not time to put a nail on the coffin for OBJ. He is still explosive with impressive hands. OBJ should look to join a team that makes the playoffs in my opinion. He can shine with any route that he’s assigned with. On the flip-side, he is 33 years old, so he may not be playing more than one season.
