Best WR targets for the Packers
By: Jake Rajala
The Green Bay Packers were once the easy pick to get the number one seed. Well, they need more firepower if they want to return to those glory days. It won’t be easy for the Pack to return to being a high scoring offense. They have some WR free agents, who will require serious contemplation. It’s been reported by Matt Schneidman that Doubs “is as good as gone”. With that said, I’m going to lay out five WR targets for the Packers.
Chris Godwin
I fully expect Mike Evans to return to the Bucs for 2026. Emeka Egbuka also reigns from the Bucs. They form a terrific duo. This could make Chris Godwin somewhat expendable. After all, he only played in nine games last season and seven games in the season before that. Godwin is somewhat risky, but he could take the Packers past the divisional round if he stays healthy.
Jaylen Waddle
Jaylen Waddle may wish to leave the Dolphins, after they cut Tyreek Hill and Bradley Chubb. After all, their QB situation is a mess. Tua Tagovailoa threw 15 interceptions before he was benched. Plus, I believe there’s a significant chance that Tua doesn’t return. Waddle shouldn’t want to waste his prime on a Dolphins team with no identity.
Michael Pittman Jr.
There are a lot of rumors suggesting that the Colts could cut Michael Pittman Jr. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Pack tries to acquire him via a trade before he tests the open market. Pittman Jr. has had at least 784 receiving yards in each of his past five seasons. He’s a competitor and versatile. He’s 6’4 and 223, so he’s quite hard to cover.
JuJu Smith-Schuster
JuJu isn’t a WR1 at this stage in his career. However, he could be a go to weapon for the Packers. If Doubs leaves, then there will be a hole at a starting WR spot. I believe the JuJu that recorded 933 yards in 2022 is somewhere in him. The Packers could get him on a cheap, short contract, as well.
Rashid Shaheed
Shaheed won’t be an easy player to lure in. After all, he was on a team (Seattle Seahawks) that won the Lombardi last season. He also has expressed interest in reuniting with the New Orleans Saints. Shaheed is in his prime at 27 years old. I’d like to see him take a one year deal on a team and look to break the bank after this season.
