Projecting the MVP of each team in the NFC South

Who will be the MVP of each team in the NFC South?

By: Jake Rajala

The NFC South has two things going for them. All of the NFC South teams have high powered offenses. On the flip-side, there were three teams that were 16th or worse in PPG allowed. Hence, there were a lot of shoot-outs in this division. With that said, I’m going to take a critical angle and project the MVPs for each team.

New Orleans Saints: Travis Etienne

I love the outlook for the former Jaguars RB Travis Etienne. He has the slight angle over last year’s second year All-Pro Chris Olave, who had 100 catches last season. Etienne reminds me a lot of former Saints RB Reggie Bush. Etienne can continue to be a 1k yard RB, especially behind Erik McCoy (who is the NFL’s best center) and a prominent tackle tandem (Kelvin Banks and Taliese Fuaga).

Honorable Mention: Chris Olave

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Emeka Egbuka

With Mike Evans gone, Emeka Egbuka needs to be the man on the outside. Evans only had one season below 1k yards and that was when he had a significant injury last season. So, Egbuka has some serious shoes to fill. Egbuka notched 938 yards and six touchdowns last season. That’s impressive for a rookie! The Bucs also don’t have a prominent RB, as Bucky Irving is their guy. He’s not a quality RB in my opinion.

Honorable Mention: Baker Mayfield

Carolina Panthers: Tetarioa McMillan

Say hello to the 2025 Offensive Rookie of the Year, Tetarioa McMillan. McMillan may have won the award, even if I was in favor of Tyler Shough (as I’m a die-hard Saints fan), but McMillan has the chance to be an All-Pro. He has a PFF grade of 78.7, which is an acceptable grade. The Panthers are also thin at the WR spot, so he should get plenty of targets! Bryce Young is young and still developing, as well.

Honorable Mention: Derrick Brown

Atlanta Falcons: Bijan Robinson

Bijan may be the best overall RB in the league. He can unleashed 1,478 rushing yards and 820 receiving yards. So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he led all RBs in total yards. He reminds me a lot of former LA Rams RB OPOY Todd Gurley in the running game. It’s a shame he couldn’t save the Falcons from missing the playoffs.

Honorable Mention: Kyle Pitts
