Best replacement options for Brissett

Jacoby Brissett wants to be paid like an alpha QB. It’s a big risk to invest in him, given that he went 1-11 last season. He will really need to be more clutch and come near a winning record in 2026. With that said, it’s quite ideal if they want to groom a QB to replace Brissett, as he is in his contract season.
Mac Jones
This is a no-brainer. Mac Jones was the best backup QB last season. He unleashed 13 TDs to six ints and 2.151 passing yards. He also had a 69.6 completion percentage. For some odd reason, Jones didn’t leave Alcatraz and be a projected QB1 on a new team. Jones is still 27 years old, so he has a fine ceiling.
Jayden Daniels
Jayden Daniels is on the hot seat. If he doesn’t improve from last season, he’s a project that many teams will be interested in. Daniels brought his team to the NFC Championship two seasons ago. Let’s not forget his talent and leadership. I refuse to believe he’s the “next RG3” and will fade away.
J.J. McCarthy
J.J. McCarthy may have looked like most of the quarterbacks from the 2011 draft class. However, he still has a gifted arm. He is also 23 years old, which is three years younger than Tyler Shough. Of course, Shough went 5-4 with the Saints and was second in OROY voting last season. McCarthy could have a “Sam Darnold” like resurrection.
Bryce Young
Bryce Young needs to kick it up a notch. He’s been on a roller coaster for a minute. He could wind up getting the “Kyler Murray treatment” and shoved to a different team. He has a the 2025 OROY (Tetaoria McMillan) at his disposal. He needs to take the next step with him.
Spencer Rattler
Tyler Shough looked like a Top-15 QB last season in my opinion. He was lighting up the scoreboard with little talent at WR (excluding Chris Olave). They still have another young, project QB in Zach Wilson on the roster. This makes it more wise to ship away Rattler for a mid to late round pick.
Michael Penix
If Michael Penix doesn’t beat out Tua Tagovailoa for the keys to the offense, his time in Atlanta will be finished. Penix has laser accuracy and he’s able to throw a nice ball on the run. He just needs to stay healthy and consistent. Penix Jr. had nine passing touchdowns to three interceptions. He can be efficient.
Geno Smith
I don’t love the downward spiral from Geno Smith last season. Let’s not forget he had multiple quality seasons before that. He didn’t exactly have WR help in Vegas last season. Smith would have Marvin Harrison Jr. at WR and obviously Tre McBride at TE. Smith could compete against a young QB for the gig.
