Edge rusher targets for the Raiders
By: Jake Rajala
We all know the Achilles of the Las Vegas Raiders defensive line, Maxx Crosby. Behind him, the Raiders are thin at the edge rusher spot. So, I’m going to lay out several edge rushers to target.
Myles Garrett
There have been a lot of trade rumors around Myles Garrett. Perhaps he may want to come to Sin City and play alongside Crosby and the 2026 first overall pick, Fernando Mendoza. He would also compete with a football mind like Tom Brady building the roster. There’s little to tell about Garrett. He broke the sack record last season and won DPOY. He is 30 years old, so he still has some gas left in the tank.
Von Miller
Just as Garrett is 30, Von Miller is 36! Miller unleashed nine sacks, 15 QB hits, and six TFLs last season. Honestly, he isn’t an overly impressive run stopper. However, he is arguably the best third down edge rusher available. Miller spent a lot of years competing against the Raiders. Perhaps he will join the dark side and play for the young head coach Klint Kubiak.
Cameron Jordan
I love Cameron Jordan. After all, I have a Jordan jersey. Matter of fact, the entire town loves him.. That is why New Orleans has a “Cam Jordan Day” and it’s on May 8th. Jordan had a minor set back in 2023 and 2024. Last season, he bounced back and notched 10.5 sacks, 15 QB hits, and a couple of forced fumbles. Similar to Miller, the two may want to play for a team that’s more expected to be in the Super Bowl.
Calais Campbell
Calais Campbell is 6’8 with a very deep voice. He can play inside or outside. He could line up inside of Crosby and make it impossible for an opponent’s OL to block them. The downfall of Crosby is that he’s 39 years old. He is the “Jason Peter” of defensive lineman. Of course, Peters played 21 seasons in the league.
Joey Bosa
Joey Bosa may not have cracked 10 or more sacks. However, he may have cracked something more important: turnovers. The 30 year old had a league high: five forced fumbles. If Joey doesn’t end up playing alongisde his brother, Nick, he should look to play with the next best thing: Mad Maxx.
Jadeveon Clowney
Clowney may not be the same athlete that dismantled the head of the Michigan running back in the “Outback Bowl”. However, he’s still versatile and has a high motor. He recorded 8.5 sacks, 10 QB hits, 12 TFLs, and 41 combined tackles. He had a 79.2 PFF grade. He sort of turned back the clock in my opinion.
Dante Fowler Jr.
Dante Fowler Jr. sort of fell off a cliff last season. He went from 11 sacks and 14 TFLs to three sacks and four TFLs a season ago. I still believe he has some 2024 magic in him. Fowler Jr. is still 31 years old, which is younger than Clowney, Campbell, Miller, and Jordan.
