Untradeable players for the Saints
By: Jake Rajala
The NFL Draft is around the corner. We should expect to see dreams come true for many players. We should also anticipate some picks and players to get moved around during the draft. With that said, I’m going to list some players that are untradeable.
Chase Young
Chase Young is the Saints best defender, especially with Demario Davis gone and Cameron Jordan’s future up in the air. The former Ohio State Buckeye recorded 10 sacks, 15 QB hits, 11 TFLs, and he did it in 12 games. He’s 27 years old, so he has many years of quality play ahead of him.
Chris Olave
Chris Olave was second team All-Pro last season. He notched 100 grabs! He also plays at a spot where it’s quite thin. Rashid Shaheed didn’t come back to the Saints. They also didn’t acquire any wideouts in free agency. Olave is 25 years old, so he is just entering his prime.
Kelvin Banks
I’m not saying Kelvin Banks is the next Trent Williams. However, he has held his ground. As a 22 year old, he recorded a PFF grade of 73.5. He was more impressive than Terron Armstead’s rookie season. Banks is slightly better at run blocking. This should be exciting given the fact that they brought in Travis Etienne at RB and also have Alvin Kamara.
Kool-Aid McKinstry
Kool-Aid McKinstry is one of the best, young CBs in the league. He notched a few interceptions and 12 pass breakups. Not only is he talented, but he plays at a CB spot that is thin on the Saints. They moved on from Alontae Taylor and Marshon Lattimore. Kool-Aid is 23 years old, so he has a lot of productive football ahead of him.
Tyler Shough
I’ll save the no-brainer toward the end. Tyler Shough is one of the best young QBs in the league. He was second in OROY voting last sseason. Forget that he’s 26 years old. He also has the same system from a season ago. I expect Spencer Rattler to be on the trade block.
Honorable Mention:
Juwan Johnson
Juwan Johnson is a freak athlete. He isn’t quite as gifted as Jimmy Graham, but he can go up high to catch the football. He can wreak havoc from the slot. With Taysom Hill likely not coming back, it makes too much sense for the Saints to move on from Juwan.
