Reflecting on the Saints first three picks
By: Jake Rajala
There was a lot of hype surrounding the New Orleans Saints and the possibility of them trading up in the first round. Well, they stayed put at pick number eight. The Saints drafted Jordyn Tyson with the first pick, a defensive tackle by the name of Christian Miller with their second pick, and then a TE named Oscar Delp in the third round. With that said, I’m going to hand out grades for them.
Jordyn Tyson: A
I really like that the Saints kept their draft pick and didn’t trade. A future super star in Jordyn Tyson fell into their laps. I even like his explosiveness and his ability more than Carnell Tate. He had the highest total score of ability among all WRs. He has been compared to Terry McLaurin. His issue is staying healthy. He also reminds me of Marshon Lattimore. They can dominate if they can stay on the field.
Christian Miller: B+
Christian Miller and Bryan Bresee can really lean on one another to blow up running plays. The Saints ranked 19th in rushing YPG allowed last season. It’s time for them to bulk up. Miller reminds me of the defensive tackle Jordan Davis, who also played at Georgia. He won’t get double digit sacks or even a lot of pressure. His raw power will still open up lanes for his linebackers and edge rushers.
Oscar Delp
With Taysom Hill likely not coming back, it was vital to get a tight end. They also let Adam Trautman leave. Oscar can be the TE2, behind Juwan Johnson. Delp can also be a modest run blocker. He had the second highest athletic score among TEs. He’s raw, but he’s a freak athlete. He also was a lacrosse player.
The Saints had a stellar draft last season. It appears they nailed the first few rounds of the 2026 draft, too. They have a couple of starters in Tyson and Miller, in my opinion. Hopefully, they can bring in a couple of role players in the back-end of the draft.
