5 pass rusher targets for the Bears right now

Best pass rusher targets for the Bears

By: Jake Rajala

The Chicago Bears had a stout defense last season. After all, they ranked first in turnovers (with 22). This was far more than the second place squad in TOs (which was the Houston Texans with 17). With that said, there is room for their defense to grow, especially when they play a couple of high-powered offenses in Green Bay and Detroit. They ranked 22nd in sacks a season ago. That’s unacceptable.

So, I’m going to lay out many pass rusher targets for CHI.

Cameron Jordan

This one is a no-brainer. According to Heavy, the Bears are expected to link up with Jordan. We all know that the Bears defensive coordinator, Dennis Allen, was once the head coach and defensive coordinator for Cam on the Saints. Jordan may be 36, but he recorded 10.5 sacks a season ago. We’re witnessing Calais Campbell play at 39 years old. Don’t close the door on Jordan returning.

Joey Bosa

Joey Bosa didn’t break any sack records, but he did have a league leading five sacks a season ago. Believe it or not, he is only 30 years old. He still has 2-3 more seasons of elite performance. If he doesn’t reunite with his brother in San Francisco, he should join an aggressive, complex defense in Chi-town.

Myles Garrett

This may seem like a pipe dream. Nonetheless, I believe there will be calls inquiring about Myles Garrett’s availability. Garrett may be tired of playing on a wretched, losing Browns team. He wouldn’t have to go far if he went from Cleveland to Chicago. Allen’s defensive scheme is similar to Jim Schwartz (who was the Browns DC in 2025).

Mad Maxx

This one may get me in trouble with Raiders nation. Maxx Crosby has been a hot trade candidate off and on over the past year. He has a hefty price, don’t get me wrong. He could be a DPOY winner in Allen’s scheme. We’re talking about a player that has a college stadium (EMU) named after him! Crosby is 28 years old, so he has a lot of production left.

Von Miller

I couldn’t forget the free agent pass rusher that can really bend on the edge. Of course, I’m talking about Von Miller. Miller is also quite old (as he’s 37). At least, he had nine sacks last season, so he’s not washed up just yet. He may not be the same pass rusher that won Super Bowl MVP, but he can wreak havoc on third downs.
