New Orleans Saints offensive triplet outlook

Saints offensive triplet

The New Orleans Saints have one of the most impressive offenses “on paper”. The Saints need to put it all together and put up fireworks on offense.

The Saints have one of the youngest and most talented offensive triplets on offense. They are led by the second year quarterback Tyler Shough. We’ve heard it plenty of times that he was “old” for a rookie QB. He proved age didn’t hold him back last season, as he took second in OROY voting (after Tetaroira McMillan).

At running back, the Saints carry two prolific RBs. I will talk about Travis Etienne, as he’s the RB1. As for the Saints WR duo, they also have a couple of tenacious WRs. I will unveil the resume of Chris Olave.

Shough has a lot of guts. He proved his worth by running for not one, but two touchdowns against the Bucs early in December of last season. He’s also a third down machine. The impressive part is that DeVaughn Vele and Taysom Hill were often injured. He proved to be a Top-20 QB with adversity in his face. He should be able to really stretch the field with Jordyn Tyson in his group of weapons.

Etienne was one of the biggest signings in free agency. Etienne was the second biggest RB FA signing in my opinion. Only K9 signing with the Chiefs was more intense. Travis signed a four year deal worth $52 million dollars. Travis has had three seasons over 1k rushing yards in his last four seasons. He is quite a home run threat at the RB spot. He is 27 years old, which is a few years younger than Kamara.

Chris Olave took a big step last season. It’s only fitting that the Saints have another prolific WR from Ohio State in Chris Olave, after Michael Thomas decides to not come back. Olave was second team All-Pro last season. He can run any route. He has deep threat ability like Rashid Shaheed and hands like Marques Colston.

If the Saints offensive triplet can stay healthy, which has been an issue for all of them in the past, they can really dazzle. I believe the most important figure in Shough, followed by Olave, and then Etienne. Of course, they are all quite important. Nonetheless, Etienne has Kamara as a backup. So, he’s the most expendable.
