Saints WR duo outlook in 2026

Outlook on the Saints WR duo

By: Jake Rjala

The New Orleans Saints have one of the youngest wide receiver duos in the league. They have Chris Olave (25 years old) and Jordyn Tyson (21 years old). Olave comes out of Ohio State and Tyson comes from Arizona State. Nobody creates WRs as well as Ohio State. Nobody parties better than Arizona State!

Tyler Shough is already in love with Tyson, who was drafted eighth overall. He said that he’s “sure-handed” and an “elite separator”. Tyson is compared to Terry McLaurin. That’s not a bad comparison, as Scary Terry is one of the most electrifying WRs in the league. Tyson recorded 10 touchdowns in his junior season and eight touchdowns in his senior season. On the flip-side, he has missed a third of his college games due to injury! Tyler Shough was often injured in college, but he stayed healthy for his entire rookie season.

Olave was drafted 11th overall in 2022. He was second team All-Pro last season, yet he didn’t make the Pro Bowl. He had nine touchdowns a season ago. He has had over 1k yards in three of his four seasons. He started to really blossom with Shough at QB, instead of Rattler. Olave finished with the sixth most targets, too. He had a PFF grade of 78 last season. He did have four drops, however. Olave hasn’t been invincible. He has also missed time as he only played in eight games in 2024.

So, we know a bit about each WR. What should we expect from the duo in 2026?

I believe they will have at least 2k combined yards from the duo. Let it also be known that Taysom Hill is out of the equation, so there will be more passes thrown. When Kellen Moore was the OC with the Philadelphia Eagles, AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith were both fed. Brown was second team All-Pro and Smith had a career high eight touchdowns in their latest season with Kellen Moore.

With Rashid Shaheed no longer a Saint, Olave and Tyson can flex their deep speed and take the top off a defense on ocassion. I’m not saying they are Desean Jackson. However, Olave ran a 4.39 at the combine and Tyson notched a 4.49 40 yard dash.

Not only does this WR duo have a plethora of talent, but they are also one of the youngest duos in the league. They should be the very best WR duo in a few years if they stay healthy and hungry.
